Since the age of nine, Jrao has been part of several bands playing in local clubs around the San Francisco/Bay Area. Jrao has played with many notable musicians, including members from Tower of Power and Allen Stone. His passion for music in all respects has also allowed him to play at the infamous Fillmore West Ampitheatre.
I
"I have always been obsessed with the sound of an overdriven guitar. From being a little kid hearing Jimmy Page’s cranked Marshall Stacks, I knew that I wanted to play guitar and I knew I wanted to perform. As a guitarist with a Rock/Metal background, I have found a way to bring aspects from those genres into other styles of music such as Pop, Rap and Hip-Hop. Nothing fulfills me more than hearing my voice as a guitarist blend seamlessly with anything from angelic pop melodies to gritty 808’s.
Throughout the last few decades, guitar has become less and less prominent in the popular music being made. Although there is a large rock/metal guitar scene that is doing very well, there is still a major disconnect between this genre and popular music. As an artist, I see many similarities between the heavy syncopation in metal and 808 patterns in Hip-Hop. When the two are combined, the creation has all the force of modern music technology but has the lineage of the guitarists who have come before me."
